Adjusting Power Line Sag in Real-Time

Geomatikk Survey was tasked with measuring and adjusting the sag of new, high-voltage power lines on a mountain in Sogn og Fjordane, a county in western Norway. By using Trimble’s SX10, they were able to cut their project work down to a single day because the sensor automatically locks on to the line itself, even with no prism, and adjusts their sag in real time.

Tunnel Vision

Using a Trimble S7 total station, an SX10 scanning total station and several Trimble software systems, Towill Inc was able to provide a Northern California utility owner with comprehensive survey data of 1,800 feet of its water pipeline. The information enabled the utility owner to install the largest possible liner to maximize pipe capacity without major excavation.

Tunnel Vision: Students Scan the Past to Preserve the Future

Researchers and students in France want to immortalize the work of New Zealand soldiers who during World War I connected a network of abandoned chalk quarries to create a passage for allied soldiers to move underground. The researchers used the Trimble TX8, TX5, and Trimble RealWorks to capture a permanent digital record of the tunnels.
