Esri User Conference Promises Insight, Demos and a Peek into the Future of GIS Tech
Esri's user conference (Esri UC 2023) will soon descend upon San Diego, California. GIS enthusiasts from around the world come to Esri UC each year, seeking inspiration, education and the newest cool positioning technology to help move their work forward.
Trimble’s GIS team is hard at work preparing for the conference, with a focus this year on “Accuracy Matters.” Whether you’re mapping, inspecting or maintaining your assets, Trimble delivers accuracy to your Esri-powered field operations, and will showcase that value at the conference July 10-14, 2023.
“We are excited to visit with users and discuss the value of accurate positioning and attribution when capturing and inspecting assets,” shared Gareth Gibson, Trimble marketing director, mapping & GIS solutions. “A user’s assets matter, and the cost of getting it wrong is high.”
Inaccuracy can lead to work delays (e.g. bringing the wrong size pipe to a repair project), rework (e.g. digging in the wrong location) and safety issues (e.g. hitting something not supposed to be in the way). Each of these examples could result in not meeting a service or project expectation.
During Esri UC, Trimble product experts will present on a series of compelling topics, all featuring a key discussion on the importance of accuracy. Join us at these events to learn why accuracy is key.
Lightning Talk—Accuracy Matters: Capturing High-Accuracy Asset Data is Easier Than You Think
The beginning of any digitalization journey is data collection. But the cost of using low-accuracy data is high when critical decisions need to be made. Presented by Lee Braybrooke, Trimble business development director, this talk will highlight two things: (1) how the latest technology advances are now making accurate data capture simple and cost effective, and (2) how the process of taking an accurate, digitized representation of reality and turning it into meaningful action is at the heart of the Trimble and Esri relationship.
Join Trimble’s Lee Braybrooke for this Lightning Talk from 10:40 AM to 10:45 AM on Tuesday, July 11 in the Partner Presentation Theater (Expo—Hall C).
Partner Presentation—Accuracy Matters: Trimble-Enabled GNSS Capture & Inspection Workflows for ArcGIS
Trimble and Esri have collaborated on high-accuracy GNSS data collection workflows for over 20 years. From ArcPad and ArcGIS Mobile through to ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123, Trimble has enabled Esri workflows with tools and technology beyond just the GNSS receiver. Come hear the latest product information on how Trimble enables efficient, accurate workflows across ArcGIS Field Maps, ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise. Bonus! We’ll also include exciting news about how Trimble® TerraFlex® and Offline GNSS Corrections can be used alongside ArcGIS Field Maps with the same set of feature services.
Join Trimble’s Dan Colbert (Trimble senior technical sales consultant) and Matthew Morris (Trimble product manager) for this presentation from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM on Tuesday, July 11 in the Partner Presentation Theater (Expo—Hall C).
Lunchtime Presentation—Accuracy Matters: Technology & Trends for Productive Asset Data Capture
Trimble is catering this lunchtime event, presented by our own Gareth Gibson and Lee Braybrooke. When it comes to field asset data capture and inspection, selecting the right tools depends on many factors, including striking a balance of speed, safety, cost and complexity. No matter which tools you choose, accuracy is essential to your productivity. In this session, Trimble will describe the importance of accurate spatial data across an asset’s lifecycle. We will demonstrate how the latest field technologies (including GNSS and more) can be used with Esri’s ArcGIS solutions to maximize productivity. We will also describe how to select the most suitable technology for your requirements.
Join us for a catered lunch and presentation from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Thursday, July 13 in Room 14B. (Please note numbers are limited and lunch will be on a first come first served basis.)
We will also be presenting the following presentations at the Cityworks booth #1027:
Accuracy Matters: GNSS Data Capture with Trimble Catalyst and ArcGIS Field Maps
- Presented by Dan Colbert from 10:00 AM to 10:20 AM on Tuesday July 11 at the Cityworks booth theater
Accuracy Matters: Trimble Terra Office + Trimble TerraFlex for ArcGIS Pro Users
- Presented by Matthew Morris from 11:00 AM to 11:20 AM on Wednesday July 12 at the Cityworks booth theater
Also, visit us at booth #1226 in the Expo Hall to speak with product experts and demo these products:
Trimble Catalyst GNSS Positioning Service
Trimble Catalyst™ GNSS positioning service offers field versatility and high accuracy for users of Esri ArcGIS field software. We took Trimble’s core GNSS technology that runs on a dedicated hardware chip and transformed it into an on demand positioning service that is easier to deploy and integrate than traditional GNSS solutions. All a customer needs to do is select an accuracy plan, pick up a Catalyst DA2 antenna, connect and go.
Catalyst is simple, flexible, precise and affordable. Whether you’re carrying out mapping or mobile GIS data collection projects, Catalyst has the positioning for every workflow, including:
- GIS Mapping and Data Collection
- GNSS Land Surveying
- Mobile GIS Applications
- Land and Cadastral Management
- Utilities and Public Administration
- UAV Mapping Workflows
The Trimble DA2 GNSS receiver for Catalyst is the only hardware needed to operate the Catalyst service, and this lightweight but incredibly high-performing device retails for under US$500. The performance of the DA2 scales with your Trimble Catalyst service level, delivering anywhere from centimeter to sub-meter accuracy to location-enabled Android and iOS field apps and workflows—including Esri ArcGIS Field Maps and ArcGIS Survey 123. Users enjoy professional performance and precise positioning from a lightweight, convenient receiver, without the burden of purchasing or operating dedicated correction service subscriptions or expensive capital outlay.
Subscriptions to the Catalyst service are available as pay-by-the-hour or unlimited (monthly or annual) usage plans.
Trimble TDC650 GNSS Handheld
The Trimble TDC650 is the ultimate high-performance GNSS handheld receiver for GIS professionals and surveyors. Slim, rugged and easy to use, it boosts productivity and delivers maximum positioning accuracy in a single integrated solution. Trimble developed the TDC650 to deliver high accuracy at users’ fingertips, delivering scalable high-accuracy positioning from meter- to centimeter-level, even in the hand, without requiring a pole and external antenna.
Trimble Terra Office Software
Trimble Terra™ Office provides a complete, streamlined workflow to manage your high-accuracy GNSS field data collection projects for optimal accuracy and integrity.
Supporting a variety of Trimble TerraFlex and legacy Trimble TerraSync™ field software workflows, this desktop solution extends your investment in back-office GIS by connecting the field workflow directly to your existing systems for efficiency and maximum data and schema consistency.
Trimble Business Center workflows for Esri ArcGIS Customers
Trimble Business Center (TBC) is a core survey and construction field to finish survey CAD software that helps surveyors deliver high-accuracy GNSS data, create CAD deliverables, and leverage full data traceability throughout a project's lifecycle. In the latest updates to this solution, TBC now enables integration with Esri GIS using web and feature services for bi-directional data sharing.
