WORLD NEWS IN BRIEF 6 Spring 2019 6 McDermott International Inc. has announced the award of a tank contract by Puma Energy (Australia) Fuels Pty Ltd for the engineering, procurement and construction of 11 fuel tanks for an import terminal in Kwinana, Western Australia. Onsite work is scheduled to commence in 1Q19 with completion scheduled for 3Q20. The contract will be reflected in McDermott's 4Q18 backlog. Vopak has announced that it will expand its terminal in Veracruz, Mexico with 110 000 m 3 for the storage and handling of clean petroleum products. This expansion already has high commercial coverage and is expected to be fully commissioned in 4Q20. Rosneft and the Ministry of Energy and Water of the Lebanon Republic – Lebanon Oil Installations – have reached an agreement providing for the transfer into Rosneft's operational management of the oil products storage terminal in the city of Tripoli (the second largest city in Lebanon and the main port in the north of the country) for a term of 20 years. The agreement also contemplates rehabilitation and expansion of the terminal. Exmar has announced that its Floating Liquefaction Unit (FLNG), to be renamed Tango FLNG, has berthed in Bahia Blanca, Argentina, where it will stay and produce LNG for export for YPF over a 10-year period. Baker Hughes, a GE company has announced it will supply turbomachinery equipment for the construction of the Golden Pass LNG export facility in Sabine Pass, Texas. BHGE will provide turbomachinery equipment for three LNG trains, including six gas turbines and 12 centrifugal compressors. Russia | Russia to drive underground gas storage growth in FSU R ussia is expected to be the major contributor to the growth of the underground working gas storage capacity in the Former Soviet Union (FSU) between 2018 and 2022, accounting for around 92% of the total region's growth, according to GlobalData, a data and analytics company. GlobalData's report, 'Underground Gas Storage Industry Outlook in Former Soviet Union to 2022 – Capacity and Capital Expenditure Forecasts with Details of All Operating and Planned Storage Sites', reveals that the FSU is expected to have 13 planned underground gas storage sites with a total working gas capacity of 956 billion ft 3 by 2022. The region's share in the global planned working gas capacity will be 33% in 2022. Russia is expected to add around 877 billion ft 3 of underground gas storage capacity during the forecast period from nine planned and announced underground gas storage sites. CAPEX for these sites totals US$2.4 billion over the next four years. USA | Texas COLT submits application to MARAD T exas COLT, a proposed joint venture among Enbridge Inc., Kinder Morgan Inc., and Oiltanking, has submitted an application with the US Maritime Administration (MARAD) to construct and operate a deepwater crude oil export port located off the coast of Freeport, Texas, US. The project includes an offshore platform and two offshore loading single point mooring buoys capable of fully loading a 2 million bbl very large crude carrier (VLCC) in approximately 24 hours. The offshore facilities will be connected by a 42 in. pipeline to an onshore tank farm that will have up to 15 million bbl of storage capacity. Germany | German LNG Terminal signs commercial agreement G erman LNG Terminal GmbH, the joint venture driving forward Germany's fi rst LNG terminal in Brunsbuettel, has reached another long-term commercial capacity agreement with a global LNG player. The parties agreed on the commitment of a substantial part of the terminal capacity. Negotiations with other interested parties are ongoing. As a result of strong market demand, German LNG Terminal will apply for permits with a total terminal capacity of 8 billion m 3 /yr. Preparations for the terminal's permitting approval process are well underway: a scoping meeting, organised and chaired by the approving authorities, took place at the end of January. Obtaining construction approval for the planned LNG terminal is one of the conditions for being able to make the fi nal investment decision in late 2019. Construction work will then start in 2020 with the terminal being fully operational by the end of 2022.
