Georeferencing the points in a point cloud is crucial to aligning the point cloud data with real-world coordinates, ensuring accurate spatial positioning. This context and alignment allows for the raw data from a laser scanner to be integrated with other geospatial data sets, and it ensures deliverables meet regulatory requirements.
