Field-to-Finish with TBC
The point cloud in this dataset was captured as part of a Trimble MX9 mission near Biberach, Germany. It was exported as a LAS then re-imported to Trimble Business Center (TBC), georeferenced. After TBC classified the point cloud, point features such as trees, light poles, and sign posts were extracted both automatically and manually. A feature code library is applied to assign attributes to these features.
A corridor was designed upon the existing point cloud to simulate a potential road widening application. Users could resume from here to create a cut/fill map between the design and the as-built road.
The point cloud was so dense it captured the location and the shape of all the manholes in the road. Based on that information, a sewer line network was created using TBC’s Utility Modeling Module.
This sample dataset demonstrates TBC’s capability of fulfilling both land surveying requirements and civil construction needs.
