Tunnel Shotcrete Verification using Scan Data
Verifying the tunnel construction process is an important part of a tunnel surveyor's job. Whether it is checking the excavation for proper over and underbreak levels or assessing shotcrete layers for thickness and undulation, surveyors need the right tools to get the job done efficiently and effectively. By utilizing Trimble 3D laser scanning technology in the field, high fidelity data can be collected rapidly to ensure the tunnel construction crews can keep working. Within TBC, the scan data can be automatically geo-referenced and classified, reducing technician’s time to create the final inspection report.
This dataset contains two point clouds from Trimble 3D laser scanners and a tunnel design template and alignment hosted in a TBC project. Using the TBC Tunneling module, the scan datasets, which represent an excavation and shotcrete layer, can be turned into 3D meshes for visualization and comparison. The inspection workflow provides detailed heat map deliverables to verify the shotcrete thickness and smoothness. This sample dataset demonstrates a variety of functions from the TBC Tunneling module, such as design tools, point cloud visualization, heat map inspection, and reporting.
