example,theverticalityofa10mbuildingwillhaveanerrorofjust0.14mmandthefloor
flatnessofa20mfloorwillhaveanerrorofjust0.3mm.Withoutsurvey-gradeleveling,some
scannerscanhave >8mmerrorat10mand>17mmerrorat20m.

Self-levelingmustbeenabledforinfieldregistration.IftheTrimbleX9istiltedmorethan10°
andupto45°,theacquiredscanwillberoughlyleveled,butnotguaranteedthe3"accuracy.
Thescanwillbeflaggedas"Notleveled,"howeverTrimblePerspectivefieldsoftwarecan
automaticallyregisterthescanifthereissufficientoverlapwiththescanyou'reregisteringto.If
theinstrumentistilted>45°fromeithersideofitsverticalaxis,Perspectivewilldisplayan
errormessageandpreventscanacquisition.Whenthescannerisupside-downandthetiltis
withinarangeof10°oftheverticalaxis,thescanwillbeleveledwithsurvey-gradeaccuracyand
flippedautomaticallyforcorrectorientation.Thesmartself-levelingalsohasreal-timelevel
monitoringtostopscansiftiltisdisruptedduringscanacquisition.
