Analysis of Traffic Flow at Two Roman Squares Through Remote Sensing and Environmental Data with Trimble eCognition (CARATTERIZZAZIONE DI DUE PIAZZE DI ROMA ATTRAVERSO DATI TELERILEVATI E DATI AMBIENTALI )
Trimble® eCognition® channel partner, Sysdeco, recently published a case study with Cnr-Istituto Ingegneria Del Mare and Cnr-Istituto Inquinamento Atmosferico that focuses on the analysis of traffic at two squares in Rome, the Piazza Mazzini and the Piazza della Repubblica.
The study was conducted using Trimble eCognition software. Based on high-resolution Pleiades Neo satellite imagery, the amount of traffic flow expressed in vehicles per hour and relative to the peak hour of the winter weekday morning was evaluated.
The study has confirmed the validity of the method using eCognition software to evaluate air quality based on the amount of traffic.
