New Trimble TCU5 Onboard Controller Maximizes Trimble S Series Total Stations for Complete System

Trimble has announced the new Trimble® TCU5 onboard controller for boosting Trimble S Series Total Stations to complete systems that allow surveyors to get total control over how they work.

Trimble TCU5

Surveyors around the world trust Trimble’s high-performance total station surveying solutions to maximize productivity while offering scalability to adapt to future challenges and opportunities, and the Trimble TCU5 controller expands these capabilities to elevate productivity from the field to the office.

Trimble TCU5 withS S7

By leveraging Trimble Access, a robotic holder and docking stations, the Trimble TCU5 advances the S Series Total Stations – S5, S7, S9 and S9HP – with a modern control unit, or from a mechanical station to automatic tracking-and-focusing instrument using Trimble S Series Autolock Total Stations and Trimble Active Tracking.

The Trimble TCU5 key features include:

  • the latest Trimble Access field software with Trimble Total Stations;
  • WiFi connectivity, including Trimble Sync Manager support;
  • Android operating system;
  • 5-inch multi-touch screen;
  • portability for ease of data transfer in the office connecting via the docking station;
  • in-the-field flexibility to be an integrated on-board control unit or robotic data collector.

Using the Trimble TCU5 with their Trimble S Series Total Station, surveyors can boost productivity and accommodate how they work in the field with a new, modern workflow that’s adaptable, whether on a pole, onboard or in the office with a docking station.

Trimble TCU5 and S5

Here’s more on how to use the Trimble TCU5 to customize a Trimble S Series Total Station, whether S5, S7, S9 or S9HP, in either Autolock or Robotic configuration with Passive or Active Tracking:

Compatible with both configurations, the adaptable Trimble TCU5 works as an onboard controller for the Autolock Total Station or pole-mounted to use with the Robotic Total Stations.

Trimble S Series Autolock Total Station

Trimble S Series Autolock Total Stations automatically lock on to the prism – and stay there – intelligently tracking the target across the worksite through Trimble MagDrive motors. This significantly reduces time spent on manually aiming and focusing. Ideal for a two-man crew, simply mount the Trimble TCU5 onboard for seamless connectivity and portability.

Trimble S Series Robotic Total Station

Trimble S Series Robotic Total Stations use the same Autolock technology but are equipped with radios on both the total station and controllers. This is ideal for one-person operation by mounting the controller on the survey pole instead of the total station or for two people to be more efficient in the field .

Trimble Access Field Software Supports Everyday Workflows

Powered by Android, the TCU5 gives surveyors the latest version of Trimble Access with a modern platform for syncing files and other Android utilities. Feature-rich and intuitive, Trimble Access offers a familiar interface and allows for seamless data sharing and processing from the field to the office.

Trimble Business Center Brings Data Together

Trimble Business Center provides a single software package to bring all data together in the desktop environment for efficient work across any Trimble total station to survey, level, and scan terrestrial and aerial data. Trimble Business Center also offers topographic map creation workflow, earthwork operations and corridor operations.
